Well I gotta fly out to Queensland for my conference, but here are the details for the weekend, Ric should get the server up sometime after the F1s.. No carset update...

We are racing at Trois Riveres, which is a normal round, with two 20 minute races. The action starts at 3pm GMT as per normal. Full rules can be found in the rules post, including which aids are allowed.

Full Rules Here.

It would be good for people to join the server once it is up to make sure their game is setup.

Time Details
Sunday 3rd December, 3pm GMT
Other time zones

Hosting Details
Server is: HOWC - Megane Round 3 - Trois Riveres

I will not be able to race, since my dad will be using the computer as from 2pm GMT for his slideshow, and I won't bother returning in the half time at the local team's game as he won't be done after an hour.

I know, I have no reason to complain, but I'm going to say it anyway: The chosen hour to race sucks. Smack in the middle of the afternoon? That's like the worst hour ever, when you're doing something on a Sunday, there's no way you can make it. Why not in the evening? If you're doing something, usually you're back from whatever you were doing by the evening...

but then again frank for others 3pm is like 10am, or even 10pm, and think of the time when ben does this stuff.. Wink

granted, we all cant be there, but RL has to get in the way sometimes, and thats nothing really to complain about is it?

No matter the hour is held at, there will always be conflict. The current time is set and changing it at this time would suck. There will be more series in the future and the time discussion will come up again.

What do others think of non-official pick up games or a pick up game series that is more time schedule friendly? It wouldn't be reviewed by Ben or anything and we could find a place to post results. In a series like this there would be less people involved and it could be set up for a time those in the smaller series specify. A Euro-friendly series held on Sunday nights?

It's just a thought. Obviously this is a lesser solution to an official HOWC championship series, but it may sate your appetite for racing, Frank.

It's just very annoying that I was even more excited about the Megane league than the F1 league, and that then is seems that we're racing at a silly hour (imo)...

Anyway, I heard that the server is lagging. I can setup my server for tonight say, 8pm GMT?

You're already in the F1 league and that works for you. That one runs at night. Why complain? Just because you can't have everything? Look at things from other peoples' points of view. The Megane series doesn't work for you, but at least F1 does. F1 doesn't work for me, thankfully Megane does. I don't go over to the F1 forum and whine that the hour doesn't work for me. I see it from others' points of view and it does wok for them.

This league is perfect like that. There are 2 championships at 2 different days and times and we still manage to cater to most everybody. I say mega props to the admins for making it work over something like 18 time zones.

As much as I'd love a race, I'm afraid I think I'm just too busy with other stuff tonight. Have fun though - as long as you don't make it an official race. Razz

That's uncalled for. I think Frank has a perfectly valid point when he says that having the Megane racetime in the middle of Sunday (europe time) prevents you from doing much that day. His priority is the Megane league and if he's unable to compete it in because of the timing, obviously he's going to be upset. You just said that you can see it from others points of view...but you're seemingly blind to Frank's? He's a member of the community like any other here and has delivered a lot to the league over the last 6 years. If he wants to complain about something, and the same goes for anyone else, I welcome him to do it, as if no-one complained then nothing would change and things would become stale.
Your reply was disrespectful and inconsiderate, and really I think you should apologise.

yeh in other leagues maybe frank's annoyances would go unnoticed, as nobody cares abt single outcasts in bigger leagues, but in howc surely there's a time that would work for everyone

I see Franks point, I'd be able to race later on n the evening and I wouldn't mind a time change.

We did have a fixed time discussion though, where people had there say and it seems 3pm was the on that everyone agreed on (well, not everyone actually bothered posting lol Razz) But yeah from what I saw there was a choice to race at 6pm as well but nobody said they couldn't race.

I know situations change tho and I'd be happy to race later, might be a bit tricky getting everyone to agree but as I look on msn now most are still online Razz

5PM would be perfect for me Wink

Seriously, if it doesnt hinder anyone, and allows more people to join (i.e. me and frank), them wouldnt a timechange be fine?
